Consciously Crafted Since 2013.
Metta Weaving is an online boutique selling earthy decor & jewelry made of natural & vegan materials. MW aims to offer an eco friendly alternative to men and women who enjoy conscious living by helping reduce their material footprint. Partnered with Eden Projects. See our progress here.
I encourage my customers to educate themselves on the products they buy. If you are like me, you put a great deal of care into making purchasing decisions. It is important for me to provide you with excellent products that last and don't impact the earth in a negative way.
Handcrafted with love and intention, Metta Weaving is partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects, a non profit that plants trees in poverty stricken countries. We work to combat climate change, restore natural eco systems and provide work for the local people in those areas. 20 trees are planted for every order.
Environmentally Safe Materials
Metta Weaving uses sustainable materials such as hemp and ethically sourced natural stones. Finding a balance between cruelty free and sustainable is important and can often be challenging. Not all vegan materials are eco friendly, and that is why I have made a conscious decision to use vegan suede over real suede.
All orders are gift wrapped in black tissue paper and hemp rope. I use all paper product and recycled cardboard backing for extra protection in shipment.
Benefits of Hemp
I am a huge hemp advocate!
Hemp is an amazing alternative to the popular Linhasita cord that a surprising amount of macrame jewelers use. Linhasita sounds pretty fancy, is waterproof and relatively indestructible, however it is essentially plastic(a lot of jewelers will leave that out of their product descriptions).
Hemp has been used for thousands of years, earliest known dates about 9,000 years ago! When it is used for weaving and knotting, it becomes very sturdy. It is a sustainable product that grows quickly, requires very little water and pulls large amounts of carbon dioxide from the the air. Hemp is mold resistant, UV resistant and breathable when made into clothing.
About the Artist
My name is Kahlia Chase. I am in my late twenties and I live and work in a skoolie(school bus converted tiny home, it's an ongoing project over the last couple years). I enjoy nature for inspiration and spiritual/physical healing. I love to hike, rock hound, mountain bike, camp, yoga, meditate, craft, grow plants, brew kombucha and practice witchcraft. Anything that involves the outdoors, I am interested.
I started weaving in 2013 and haven't stopped since. My vision is to create meaningful pieces for my customers that reflect my own values.
In my early twenties, I was in a pretty severe auto accident. Months went by and my concussion symptoms and headaches seemed to get worse. After breaking down and seeing a neurologist, I learned that I had a brain disorder. My disorder had become symptomatic from the trauma that my body had been through. I suffered for years, looking for natural remedies like massage, chiropractic, you name it. Surgery was recommended and I could not face that option because it honestly scared me.
Two years ago, it got to the point where I was in such bad shape that I just didn't want to be me anymore. Dealing with depression, seeing a therapist, not functioning and being able to work, I didn't see anymore options left besides surgery. I finally decided to go back to my neurologist and make the appointment. I was terrified.
I had brain surgery in January of 2018. Ever since then a huge burden has slowly been lifted from my shoulders. With a pain management regimen and a low stress lifestyle, life has gotten a lot better. I can look at life in an optimistic way again and I don't take life for granted.
Through these passed 6 years, there were periods of time when I couldn't work and weaving was the only thing I felt like I could do. It slowly grew from a hobby into a full time career for me and I don't regret the path that I have taken, no matter how hard it was. It has made me a stronger person.
The Universe is unbounded energy with pure potential that we can utilize. If we can manage to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, we can see that there is much more at play here.
We must plant the seeds of compassion, patience and understanding inside of our souls. Plant these seeds of wisdom in yourself and reflect inwards. The ore we nurture these seeds, the more they grow into light and spread, eventually filling you and intertwining you with the Universe.
I hope my story has inspired you to never give up on your dreams.
