About the Artist

My name is Kahlia Chase and I am the owner, designer and crafter of Metta Weaving.

Art has been a huge part of my life for over 7 years now. I took up crafting in my early twenties when I had to quit my job after a brain injury. A year or so after my injury I learned that I had a pre-existing brain disorder called a Chiari Malformation that was giving me excruciating pain. I did have surgery & things are a lot better, but I am still dealing with pain management. I suffer from nerve and muscle pain and exercise is really the only thing that helps, so I try to spend most of my time doing physical things. I have learned many things living with chronic pain, one of them being empathy. I genuinely want to help people and make them feel good, and I am able to do a major portion of this through my work. I make meaningful pieces for people all over the world, and nothing gives me more joy than to make others happy.

Working for myself allows me to have an income, use my creativity and work on my own terms. There are days that I cannot work, and I don’t need to worry about it because I don’t have an employer! This is why my made to order listings are generally 2 - 3 weeks out. In case I need it, I have the time to get a piece done. However, I always get them done as quickly as possible.

I am a firm believer in a healthy, balanced lifestyle. I believe that there is more to life than what meets the eye and I will always believe that love and compassion are two of the most important things in the human existence. Many people take life for granted and really, I am fortunate to be alive.

I enjoy spiritualism, creating, gardening, and anything else that brings my life meaning and purpose. I like to learn about things and draw what I need from it. I enjoy travelling, backpacking, rockhounding, yoga, meditation, music, spirituality, Veganism and wellness in general. I simply love nature and every aspect of it.

Oh yea, and creating. I can’t get enough of it.

If you would like to learn more about my brain disorder and brain surgery, feel free to check out my blog about Chiari Malformation. I will be sharing more info on that in the future as well.

Thank you for your interest in my handmade business.

Many blessings of Metta,
